PSOJ Calling for Sense of Calm and Productive Talks

The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica has added its voice to the public sector saga. The PSOJ is calling for calm amid the ongoing industrial actions, and says without productive dialogue, the strides the country has made will be erased. The PSOJ is pleading  for a sense of calm to facilitate productive dialogue among members of the public sector, this it say’s as the government continues to work thorough the reclassification exercise regarding public sector wages.

PSOJ President Keith Duncan says Jamaica has made significant strides over the past decade, in getting its fiscal house in order. Duncan says the reclassification exercise was always going to be a very complex and involved exercise which would have required patience and forbearance, in light of recent strikes and talks of more to come.

He says the reclassification exercise is important but ought to be done in the spirit of partnership, trust and transparency. He says the PSOJ will continue to observe situation, but continues to encourage the parties to be reasonable and stay resolute on the bigger mission of rebuilding and recovering after having to deal with the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and even implications of the external shocks and geo political tensions.
