The people of Rae Town fishing village in Kingston are lamenting their frustration, as they say, they have been without operational street lights for months. Following previous pleas they are once again calling on the Jamaica Public Service, (JPS) to urgently fix the problem.
The future at the moment is looking dim for residents of the Rae Town fishing village in Kingston, who after months of pleading with the Jamaica Public Service to restore streetlights, are yet to receive any words of comfort or promise of installation.
The Rae Town community has been without streetlights for months, which they say has led to the high level of crime in the fishing village. The residents say the volatility has essentially crippled business; the darkness has inevitably triggered fear, the likelihood of criminal elements being out of view.
Meanwhile, Caretaker for Central Kingston Imani Duncan-Price insists that the Member of Parliament needs to shed light on the dark issue. She says representation is not only about Parliament but also meeting the needs of the people. When CVM Live contacted the Jamaica Public Service, they say the company will be looking into the matter.
