Reactions to Jamaica’s Nomination for Commonwealth Sec. General

There are mixed reactions to Jamaica’s nomination of Senator Kamina Johnson Smith for the post of Commonwealth Secretary-General. Some say it is a move that will further divide the Caribbean community. Others are of the view that Senator Johnson Smith is the most suitable candidate for the job. CVM LIVE understands that Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders are expected to meet later this week to discuss the matter.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness to Address Johnson Smith’s Candidacy in Parliament 

In a social media post earlier, Minister without portfolio with responsibility for Information in the office of the Prime Minister, Robert Morgan tweeted that Prime Minister Andrew Holness will be addressing Senator Johnson Smith’s Candidacy in parliament tomorrow. Mr Holness is also expected to speak about his recent trip to Washington DC.
