A report on the transport and mining budgetary spend for the 2021/22 financial year was presented to Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee last week. The report outlines the operations of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) and was met with several questions from the PAAC members.
Managing Director Paul Abrahams gave a breakdown of the company’s budgetary allocations. He says the JUTC continues with the rationing of workers. However, there were also concerns from some members regarding losses
The total expense according to Abrahams was reduced from 9.9-9 billion dollars in March 2021 to 9.4-4-8 as of March 31, 2022. He notes this has also reflected on a year-on-year savings of 4.16 billion. The Managing Director provided an update on the procurement of buses.
