CVM LIVE spoke with the rescuers who are local businessmen on the West Gate main road. They dove into rough waters attempting to rescue passengers from the vehicle who were swept into the Montego River on Tuesday; their effort resulted in the rescue of 2 of 4 passengers in the vehicle.
One of those rescuers, Kelvin ‘Fruits man’ Pine said he braved the floodwaters and his valiant effort resulted in a rescue. He explains how he came to rescue the two after watching from his stall. Onale Shawn Brown, a tire repairman said he woke from his nap, upon hearing cries for help. He helped save Walters’ grandfather. For these men, saving lives was not a choice, it was instinct.
