Review of Parliament’s New Microphones

Allegations of Suppression of the Opposition People’s National Party in Parliament Disputed – Across the country last week, claims of a deliberate silencing of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) within the House of Parliament began to circulate. These allegations arose after PNP executive members asserted that they were denied the opportunity to comment on a ruling by the Integrity Commission concerning former Speaker of the House, Marisa Dalrymple Philbert.

However, in an effort to debunk these claims, the Clerk’s Office organized a press briefing today to shed light on the parliamentary process. Caribbean Technology Solutions, a well-established electronic communication provider with 15 years of experience, secured the contract for installing these new systems, with a total cost approaching $18 million. Managing Director Glenford McFarlane reiterated that the TeleVIC system aims to promote order and has been successfully deployed in several other countries. The microphones in particular had become a topic of discussion following last week’s parliamentary session. Watch the report:
