Local Government Minister Desmond Mckenzie says charges have been laid against persons connected with the Negril tourist hot spot following the breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) recently.
Rick’s Cafe hosted a party called Mocha Fest that allegedly breached aspects of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) and violated other protocols.
The incident led to a meeting being held with the owners and the local authorities which saw them closed for several days. They have since been granted approval to reopen. The Minister was speaking at the post-cabinet media briefing on Wednesday, June 9.
The Minister made the announcement while seeking to assure the nation that the government is acting in the best interest of the Jamaican people.
