The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) is optimistic that 2023 will provide renewed hope in reducing the number of road deaths. NRSC, Vice Chairman Dr Lucien Jones says so far there has been a decline in road deaths this year when compared to a similar period last year. While it is too early to detect the reason for the decline he says the reduction is encouraging.
Jamaica has seen a 33 percent reduction in road fatalities since the start of the new year. This is according to Dr. Jones. The reduction represents a marked decrease from last year’s runaway figures. Dr. Jones tells CVM LIVE, the implementation of the new road traffic act, February 1, has contributed to the positive trend, in helping to eradicate negative behaviors on the nation’s streets.
