Robbers Caught During Intelligence Operation in Portmore

Robbers posing as deliverymen have been plaguing communities in Portmore; Councillor for the area urged residents to stay vigilant and called for the police to help protect residents. Since that call last week the police were able to capture one offender.

On Tuesday, October 26, at about 3:50 in the afternoon, the police, acting on information went to Pigeon Shoot, Portmore to conduct an intelligence-driven operation to apprehend two robbers posing as deliverymen on motorcycles.

Action by the police on taking down robbers who pose as deliverymen in Portmore comes a week after Councillor Renair Benjamin’s call for police intervention. The Councillor for the Winchester division, one of the affected communities, congratulates the police for their response in this matter and urges citizens to stay alert. He reiterated that citizens should refrain from carrying large amount of cash

Another trend Superintendent Phillips observes is people becoming targets after leaving financial institutions. As the festive season approaches, he seeks to collaborate with these entities to prevent an increase of robberies of this nature. He noted that conversation with finical institutions will be held regarding the boosting in their security apparatus. At the same time, Superintendent Phillips assures that further operations to target delivery men-type robberies will continue.
