The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development along with its subsidiary agency has been installing advanced water supply systems across Jamaica. Members of the ministry toured one of the supply locations in St. Catherine recently. Residents of Innswood in St. Catherine will be counted among several communities across Jamaica seeing greater improvement in their water supply, through the rural water supply project, a subsidiary of the ministry of local government and rural development.
Managing director of the supply agency, Audley Thompson says in keeping with their mandate of providing the precious commodity, more rural residents are opting for piped water.
He notes systems are currently being set up across St. Catherine. Mr. Thompson adds solar pumps have been set up in most rural areas. He also notes the upgrading of the water system is in keeping with the government’s 2030 vision which includes the advancement of rural communities.
