The Ministry Of Local Government has launched its first rural project initiative in the parish of Hanover. The project is geared towards development and creating opportunities for locals to earn a living through tourism. Local government minister, Desmond McKenzie was the keynote speaker at the launch. Chambers pen in Hanover is the first community in the parish to become part of the ministry of local government’s rural development project.
Speaking at the launch, Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie says the parish was chosen since inception in the lower house.
In a bid to boost tourism, the rafting sector in the parish, Minister McKenzie says support will be provided to rafters. He sought to address criticisms surrounding the ministry’s approach to illegal activities. The minister also adds there are talks for the construction of a new market along with a community center.
