Trouble is brewing in the St. Ann Municipal Corporation. Minority caucus leader, Councillor Winston Brown told CVM Live if the mayor fails to resign they’ll be forced to move a no confidence motion against him.
It’s also alleged far more than the unaccounted 61 million dollars is up for clarification. His predecessor, Michael Belnavis resigned in July 2020 after his integrity in the post was called into question. Two years in and Mayor Sydney Stewart is being asked to follow suit and resign or face a no confidence vote.
The minority leader in the SAMC, insists confidence has waned in the Chairman. Among the issues, his alleged denial in partaking in a meeting with the JPS Co. about allegedly stolen utility poles found at a football field and unaccounted sums intended for road repairs. Initially it was said to be 61 million dollars that’s unaccounted for but the figure appears to be growing. CVM Live understands the Mayor was absent from Thursday’s council meeting where the opposition demanded his resignation.
