Sandals Resorts to Develop Hospitality University

The tourism industry which largely benefits Jamaica’s economy has also been in partnership with local farmers sparking new opportunities for work. Tourism is the “economic superpower of the Caribbean”. That’s according to Sandals Resorts International’s Executive Chairman, Adam Stewart. Speaking on a panel at the Skift Global Forum in New York, the prominent businessman says the resort is in the process of building an international hospitality school.

The 6th generation Jamaican says the campus will be located in Montego Bay, St James. He says the university will be used to propel the tourism industry into a more profitable future. He however notes its success will depend on the stability of the upcoming generation.

Meanwhile, Stewart says the industry has been focused on incorporating local farmers into the thriving tourism ecosystem, creating mutually beneficial partnerships.
