SCJ Holdings Dismisses Recent Claims By The PNP

Sugar Company of Jamaica Holdings, (SCJ) is dismissing recent claims by Opposition Spokesman on Agriculture, Victor Wright that he is in good standing as it relates to the lease agreement between himself and SCJ Holdings.

CVM LIVE obtained a copy of an SCJ Holdings release, outlining lease agreement between the company and Wright. It commenced on July 1, 2011, and after two years SCJ says it wrote to wright advising him that the company is prepared to enter a new lease agreement and demanding that all outstanding payments be paid.

However, the lease renewal according to SCJ was not executed
Recently the Peoples National Party said there are ongoing transactions between SCJ and Wright to grant ownership of the land which is located in Fontabelle Estate in Westmoreland.

But SCJ says after Wright’s failure to settle the outstanding balance, they gave him notice, saying ‘SCJ will not grant to you any further lease of the property,’ and further gave him a ‘notice to quit and deliver up possession (to SCJ) of the property on or before July 4, 2014.

Victor Wright maintains that there are major inaccuracies in SCJ records, but SCJ points out that it had asked Wright to supply his receipts in an effort to identify any discrepancy, but he has yet to do so.
According to SCJ, Wright’s balance stands are over three million Wright says he doesn’t owe the company any money and he will be taking legal action.

CVM LIVE made several attempts to contact Joesph Shoucair, Managing Director at SCJ Holdings, but calls went unanswered.
