Search Ends for Excavator Operator in St. Elizabeth

Tearful end to search for Peter Morgan. It is believed a section of the quarry fell on the machine he was operating, while he was supposedly awaiting fuel, on Saturday evening.

As concerned residents and loved ones gathered at the scene of the incident, distress increased as they recounted what was possibly Peter’s final moments. His father Carol Morgan was hopeful for his son’s safety. Meanwhile, he is also raising concerns about the conditions that led to the accident, as he says he does not believe the area is fit for mining. Additionally, he thinks it is a hazard for all operators.  Old-time operator and Excavator Lloyd Rochester, says the team currently searching for Morgan is inexperienced. As he believes their strategies for finding his body will be unsuccessful. A Resident says earthquake caused the excavator accident, living close by to the quarry said she experienced tremors she thought were an earthquake mere moments before the incident.

UPDATE:

The search for Peter Morgan ended Saturday evening when residents had already lost hope of him being alive.  It is believed a section of the quarry caved in on the machine Morgan was operating, while he was reportedly waiting on fuel. Nasika Alliman looks back on the feeling of despair and gloom that overshadowed the community before the alarm was raised, his body was found.
