Just minutes into the new year, a St. Catherine man alleges he was beaten by members of the security forces within his community.
The Waterford resident says the incident occurred while accompanying a friend home.
Shavon Allen, who is a 29-year-old electrician from Waterford was still covered in blood and his head bandaged, the first day of the year.
He says after being beaten he called a family friend and shared the encounter.
He was then recommended to take their badge numbers and names, however the persons involved allegedly refused to give Allen this information.
Allen says he went ahead to record their license plate number.
Allen alleged the security personnel were debating among themselves as to whether or not to charge him.
He said after they made several phone calls they charged him for breaching the curfew and resisting arrest.
However, he said a police officer at the Gregory Park Police Station told him to go home.
Senior Superintendent for the Division, Clive Blair says he is unaware of the matter, but will be investigating the claims.
