The Portland police have charged a Security Guard, held in relation to an explosion at the Bank of Nova Scotia’s Port Antonio branch, last month. The ongoing investigation into last month’s explosion of a Scotia Bank ATM in Port Antonio, Portland, has led to thirty one year old Security Guard, Calvin Hill being charged. Hill remains in hospital under police guard.
Superintendent of Police, Kenneth Chin, says Hill’s injuries resulted solely from the explosion. Hill is to face the Portland Parish Court on Tuesday, May 10, to answer to charges of arson, counting house breaking and, creating public mischief. The officer says the explosion caused significant damage to the bank. Hill is also under investigation for fraud, as the police have reason to believe that during the period of his employment, he used his position to steal an undetermined sum of cash from the bank.
