The Upper House on Friday continued the State of the Nation Debate with Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith giving an overview of the government’s improvements, her Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the management to date regarding corruption.
Senator Johnson Smith notes the passing of the Jury Amendment Act is among the accomplishments that have allowed for efficacy in the delivery of justice in the nation. She also highlighted the implantation of other acts such as the Integrity Commission among others to properly manage corruption. The Senator further adds to date Jamaica has improved significantly regarding corruption, noting that the country is currently ranked 44 in the corruption index. Another area Senator Johnson-Smith mentioned was tourism.
