Government Senator Don Wehby has chastised his opposition counterparts for their refusal to support an extension of the latest State of Emergency in sections of the country.
The senator in closing the state of the nation debates says there is no way to calculate the number of lives that could have been saved because of the special measure. Crime continues to rise and has seen the Andrew Holness administration staving off critics and criminals with Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) in some communities.
Senator Wehby says his most disappointing moment in his third term as senator was on November 25 of last year when the opposition senators voted against the extension of the state of emergency. The Senator did not hold back his thoughts on the opposition senators’ absence from the voting process. He says Jamaica will never know how many lives could’ve been saved with the SOE, despite the alleged stigma placed on it by the opposition.
Meanwhile, Senator Wehby says he’s all for the re imposition of the SOEs.
