“Getting back on track …revitalizing with purpose’, was the theme of Minister Audley Shaw‘s sectoral debate presentation Wednesday. The transport and mining minister announced ways the sector would incorporate technology in its operations.
Minister Shaw also addressed concerns about bauxite mining. Mining and Transport Minister, Audley Shaw on Wednesday presented plans to parliament that he says will positively impact his portfolio. One such change is the expansion of the digitization of driver’s licence records. He also announced that the government is transforming institutional arrangements for the management of the mining sector.
Though mining remains a controversial topic in Jamaica, Shaw is acknowledging that while it adds value to the economy it should be done in moderation.
