The Shiprider Agreement was signed between the United States and Jamaica and sets out the boundaries for cooperation between the two countries in curtailing the illicit maritime drug trafficking. However, recent arrests of Jamaican fishermen have called into question the principles of the agreement.
To add, in this Panel Discussion, we discuss the Shiprider Agreement and the rights of Jamaicans at sea. Joining us are Attorney at Law, Bianca Samuels, and Rear Admiral, Hardley Lewin. Lewin is also a former Commissioner of Police and former Chief of staff of the Jamaica Defence Force.
