Businesses in Spanish Town, St Catherine remained closed on Wednesday, following recent shooting incidents in the area. Customers were scarce and workers who showed up were fearful, wondering if things will ever get back to business as usual. 

Since the 48-hour curfew in the nearby communities, there has been a strong police presence. The curfew however did nothing to improve the sense of fear in the area. The hopeful vendors who showed up at their stalls were in for a great disappointment. One vendor says after Tuesday’s traumatic incident, she has no intention of returning until the tension calms. 

Several shoppers seeking to conduct business, say they expected that shops would have been closed.

Taxi operators have also experienced this shift in business productivity, waiting longer than usual for passengers. More details in the report:
