Relatives and colleagues of slain Constable Damien Blair gathered to celebrate the life of the public servant. Amid the tears and pain, an incensed Chairman of the Police Federation launched an attack at the Police High Command while reaffirming his commitment to his members.
But the mood quickly changed when Chairman of the Police Federation Corporal Rohan James took to the lectern for his tribute to the former Constable. He charged members to do what they must to protect their lives and livelihoods, even when off duty, despite challenges. That is when he went off-topic to address myriad concerns facing the federation and its members. He notes the Federation does not negotiate with the high command adding the council of deputies must stop their efforts to dictate the function of the federation, following a recent court order on overtime payment for the rank and file.
