A State Of Public Emergency has been declared in sections of East Kingston.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement during an emergency press conference on Sunday.
Mr. Holness said he was acting on the advice of the security forces who noticed an increase in crime and violence in the area.
Eleven murders have been recorded since the start of the year compared to three for the same period in 2019.
