Shortly after the Minister of National Security received authorization to extend Zones of Special Operations, ZOSOs in multiple communities, the government declared a State of Public Emergency, SOPE, in St James and Westmoreland. The objective behind this decision is to address the escalating crime rates in these parishes, which currently hold the unfortunate distinction of being ranked first and second, respectively, among all police divisions.
