The Spanish Town Hospital in St. Catherine recently 10 refurbished Hemodialysis machines to reduce the backlog of patients awaiting critical treatment.
Renewed hope for persons living with kidney disease. Over 300 patients at the Spanish Town Hospital in St Catherine are awaiting lifesaving dialysis treatment. On Monday, ten refurbished Hemodialysis machines were donated to the hospital by renal dynamics to meet the demand of patients in need of dialysis treatment.
Board chairman of the South East Regional Health Authority, Wentworth Charles says living in Jamaica with chronic kidney disease can be difficult. He notes mobility for treatment is hard adding there are persons who travel from as far as Portland to Spanish Town for treatment. While welcoming the initiative at the handover ceremony Charles highlighted the importance of the equipment to the health region.
