St. Ann Police Ramping Up Road Operations

The St.Ann police are ramping up spot checks with a view to curtailing the movement of wanted men, stolen goods, drugs, and weapons in the parish. They are also seeking to mitigate road fatalities.

Commanding Officer for the St.Ann police division, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell says the simultaneous road operations being carried out in the parish are in an effort to restrict the movement of criminals as well as reduce road fatalities, which he says have been on the rise.

He said since the start of this year some 22 road fatalities have been recorded, which is a slight uptick in comparison to last year. He notes that the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF is making deliberate effort to lessen the road fatalities and criminal activities.

Meanwhile, SSP Powell addresses breaches of the nightly curfew in St. Ann. While unable to provide a figure, he says he’s pleased with the number of arrests for breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) so far.

At the same time, SSP Powell notes that there has been general compliance with the no-movement order.
