St. Ann rape report may be a hoax: The Police say there is no evidence to support the claims made by a forty-two-year-old woman, who last month reported that she was abducted and raped by two men in Ocho Rios.
This sudden twist of events has left the once concerned nation now confused.
The news jolted the nation and caused great apprehension among residents.
However, the St. Ann Police are casting doubt on the allegations saying there is no evidence supporting the female’s claims.
Senior Superintendent, Dwight Powell told the St. Ann Municipal Corporation though this may be a hoax, the parish has six confirmed rape cases. He says the prime suspect is now in custody.
Francis, however, told the meeting residents should continue to be on alert.
Meanwhile, the Corporate Communications Unit at the Jamaica Constabulary Force says the Police will be investigating the alleged false rape report made by the St Ann woman.
The authorities are to make a decision on whether to charge her for public mischief.
