Although nearly every parish has been affected by rains from Hurricane Ian, Head of Communication at the National Works Agency (NWA) Stephen Shaw, says St. Catherine and Clarendon were most impacted.
Shaw is urging people to be careful on the roads. Hurricane Ian may have changed its course but several parishes are still reeling from its effects, having experienced severe flooding and damage to properties. Several other roads have been declared impassable to include Bog Walk Gorge in St. Catherine. Meanwhile, Shaw is advising persons who must travel in areas where there is flooding, to be cautious.
Although he is currently unable to compare this year’s hurricane season to that of last year, he says he doesn’t believe there have been many challenges this year. When asked if the weakened infrastructure puts the nation in a worse position to withstand future harsh weather, he says
