Rudolph ‘Boxer’ Shaw who was identified as St. Catherine’s most wanted man when he was caught by the authorities in the Cayman Islands in July, has escaped custody at the Kingston Central Police. While the search continues for him, the commissioner of police has ordered a probe into the circumstances surrounding his escape.

CVM LIVE understands that on Thursday, October 6, Boxer escaped from the Kingston Central lockup. Prior to his arrest, he was a long-time staple on the most wanted list in the St. Catherine North and south division, in connection to several incidents of shooting and murder across the parish.
Preliminary investigations revealed Shaw was discovered missing from his cell at about 6:30 a.m. during inspections, with evidence of the air vent leading to his cell, tampered with. Attorney at law representing Shaw, Peter Champagnie says he did not expect such rash actions from his client. As a prominent practitioner, Champagnie says he does not support Shaw’s action. Adding, knowing the efforts the police committed to for shaw’s deportation from the Cayman Islands when he was captured on the territory on Friday, July 8.
He expected them to be more capable at keeping him detained. Shaw, who was in custody from July 27, is accused of two counts of murder among other serious offenses including absconding bail. His next court date was scheduled to be mere days away, on October 12.
Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson has since ordered the inspectorate and professional standards oversight bureau to immediately launch a probe into the circumstances surrounding the escape.
