The defendant was presented before the court recently and was subsequently held in custody. Incidents of rape and sexual abuse in rural areas have unfortunately extended to St. Elizabeth, where the commanding officer reports more than a dozen cases reported this year. One of these cases involves the arrest and charging of a 26-year-old farmer for buggery on July 22. The reported act was committed against his 4-year-old relative. The officer also highlights another distressing incident in which a 14-year-old was a victim of rape and is now part of an ongoing court case.
