A five-month-old baby girl is at the centre of a suspected case of infanticide following a tragic incident in Barrett Town, St. James on Wednesday, December 6.
According to investigators, the baby succumbed to injuries she sustained when she fell from a three-storey building. Based on reports, the child’s mother allegedly threw the baby from the building before jumping off the same building herself. The series of events reportedly stemmed from a disagreement between the baby’s parents.
The baby’s mother remains in hospital.
Police investigations continue as the community seeks to come to terms with this tragic event. Mental health professionals have been called in to support the affected family and residents.
