Police in St James carried out a special anti-gang and traffic operation in Montego Bay on Wednesday. The police say this initiative targets areas that have seen an upsurge in gang-related activities while maintaining order in the town. Deputy Superintendent of Police, in charge of the operation for the St James Division, Eron Samuels, says police in St James are bent on bringing back law and order to the city, starting with smaller offences up to anti-gang efforts.
Assistant operations officer for the St James Division, Theodore Hayles, says the police are seeing gang conflict within the G-city gang which operates out of Salt Spring, resulting in several shootings. He adds during these operations several gang members have been arrested. Meanwhile, DSP Samuels is lauding the municipal police for their successful anti-vending efforts. Watch the full report below:
