Twenty-two-year-old Linton Bailey of Jacks River, St. Mary, who was among seven prisoners who had escaped from the Oracabessa Lock-Up two weeks ago, was recaptured in the parish on Thursday, January 04. According to the Port Maria police, Bailey, who escaped custody on Thursday, December 21, 2023, was captured between 9:50 and 10:30 a.m. during an operation in the Wilderness community, also in the parish. The escapee was found in a vegetated area of the community and taken back into custody. The manhunt is still underway for the six remaining jailbreakers who are still on the run. The police are reminding citizens that it is an offence to harbour a fugitive, and persons with information that can assist in locating them are being encouraged to contact the Oracabessa Police at 876-726-0698, Crime Stop at 311, the JCF tip line at 811, or the nearest police station.
