St Thomas Residents Concerned About 4th COVID-19 Wave

As the number of COVID-19 infections continues to surge, some St. Thomas residents are concerned about a perceived shift in COVID-19 vigilance and precaution; some continue to protect themselves against the virus, others suspect COVID-19 fatigue is resulting in persons growing more complacent.

Although a whopping one thousand, nine hundred and sixty-eight (1,968) COVID-19 infections have been confirmed Sunday, the highest since the start of the pandemic, some Jamaicans remain reluctant to comply with the regulations under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).

One resident of Yallahs, St. Thomas tells CVM LIVE that she has noticed a significant shift in how people react to the virus now, versus in the initial stages.

She says although she’s frustrated with the virus, describing it as emotionally draining, it’s important to follow the protocols to limit the spread. Some residents expressed concern about the Prime Minister’s decision to refrain from the imposition of any new lock-downs despite the 4th wave of COVID-19 infections.
