St Thomas Roadblock Impacts First Day of School

Scores of residents mounted roadblocks in a section of Leith Hall, St Thomas on Monday, morning demanding action from their political representatives regarding the state of the roads.

Their protest resulted in the resumption of some road work but the people insist they will not stop until the road is repaired. The barriers were soon breached by the police who managed to clear the way for a few motorists but not for long. Residents mounted even more debris preventing commute. Their venom was potent for their Member of Parliament, the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Michelle Charles, who they insist will not see a second term. And while some schools were impacted by the roadblock preventing staff and students from showing up on the much anticipated first day, residents say it is the price for a better way.
