Stiffer penalties for breaching COVID-protocols: The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton has informed that stiffer penalties are coming for persons who breach the COVID-19 restrictions.
But Opposition Spokesperson on Health, Dr. Morais Guy believes the Government has been tardy in implementing these measures.
The Office of the Attorney General, the Ministries of Justice and Local Government and Rural Development, are collaborating to implement more punitive measures for persons who breach the COVID-19 protocols.
That is according to the Minster of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton. He says, the aim is to have the new measures in place before the end of the year.
However, Opposition Spokesperson on Health, Dr. Morais Guy says the implementation of these penalties is long overdue.
In Parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said the ticketing system will be ready soon.
Meanwhile, Dr. Guy asserts that moral suasion will no longer work, adding that if citizens do not pay with their pockets, then they do not respect the law.
He refers especially to persons who continue to host illegal parties.
