The Ministry of Tourism has previously announced intentions to add 20 thousand new rooms to the sector over the next 5 to 10 years. The implications of this decision will be studied, as Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett says it is likely to have an economic impact. The study to be conducted on the economic impact of 20-thousand new rooms in Jamaica’s Tourism Sector is fast receiving support.

Speaking at Wednesday’s post-cabinet media briefing, Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett says by May he will have a better sense of the multilateral support for the study’s funding.

These provisions have already been made in the budget for preliminary activities to begin. It will also identify and evaluate the potential impact of the proposed development on key related sectors such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and entertainment.
