Tablets Roll Out Get Underway For Some PATH Students

Tablets roll out: Tablets have been allocated to a number of schools for students on the Programme of Advancement through Health and Education (PATH) ahead of the virtual reopening of the academic year, which commences tomorrow, October 5.

However, not all students on PATH will receive a tablet by then. According to Education Minister, Fayval Williams, this distribution is only the first allocation.

Students have been out of the classroom for almost six months and with the new academic year set to begin through online classes only, the Ministry of Education has already distributed some of the forty thousand tablets promised to students to participate in online learning.

On Friday, the Holy Family Infant and Primary School received one hundred and forty-six tablets for some of its students to give them access to the Google Learning Management System. Minister Williams says the Ministry is expecting to roll out all the devices for this academic year.

Christopher Wright, who is the Principal of Holy Family Infant and Primary School says the tablets come as a relief for many of the students but a large number of students are still yet to benefit.

In addition to that, Wright explains that internet connectivity remains an issue.

The distribution of the tablets are expected to be completed by the end of November.
