Teenager Dies In House Fire

Firefighters on Thursday battled an inferno that gutted a house, claiming the life of a minor. Dead is 13-year-old Kingston High student Leah Hugh from Giltress Street in Rollington Town, Kingston.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade Emilio Ebanks says three units responded to reports of the fire at approximately eleven in the morning. He says during the cooling down operation they were informed that a minor might be inside and after a search and rescue her remains were found. It is still unclear whether the child was there by herself at the time of the fire.
