Jamaica Hosts Pivotal Meetings on Deep Sea Mining: The 28th Council Session in Downtown Kingston Holds Discussions on the Future of this Controversial Practice Jamaica has become the focal point for a series of critical meetings that carry the potential to reshape global policies. Part 2 of the 28th Council Session, currently underway in Downtown Kingston, is examining the future of deep-sea mining. This follows a two-year countdown initiated by the Pacific State of Nauru to consider a commercial application, which recently expired.

In this discussion, we will explore some of the arguments against deep-sea mining from the perspective of local environmentalists. Joining us via Zoom is Dr. Theresa Rodriguez-Moodie, CEO of Jamaica Environment Trust (JET), and environmental advocate Dahvia Hylton from Deep-Sea Minders JA.
