The Disabled Community And Online Learning

Disabled Community and online learning: There are growing concerns this evening, as the reopening of school draws nigh. The integration of special needs students into the online learning community is a deeply concerning issue to many stakeholders, who are apprehensive about how effective this process will be and the possible challenges that lie ahead.

Also, many mental disorders are hereditary, meaning it is passed down from parent to child. Therefore, it is almost impossible for all the needs of the challenged to be professionally catered to by their  parents who may also have special needs.

Education Minister, Fayval Williams says though she understands that these students have a shorter attention span and it is harder for them to stay focused she says the government has been working hard in distributing special resources to cater to this group. Williams says hotlines are made available for parents who are experiencing difficulties with their children and hope these facilities will help to alleviate the problem.

Additionally many of these special needs schools have invested large sums of money to adhere to the social distance protocols by setting up plexiglass, hand washing and hand sanitisation stations in preparation for the new school term.

This expense has drilled a hole in the pockets of professional caregivers for institutions like adonijah group of schools.

Minister Of Education Fayval Williams expressed that she was recently made aware of this problem and will be having a meeting this week with the independent schools to address the issue.
