Three Murders In Less Than 5 Hours In St. James

Three murders in less than five hours in St. James – Minister of National Security Horace Chang says crime in St. James has decreased, despite the Minister’s assurance; residents are gripped by fear, as killings continue across several areas in the parish.

No more than 3 hours apart on Monday three murders were committed in St. James involving a 19, 51 and a 26 year old.

At 7:45 on Monday evening, 51-year-old taxi operator Byron Samuels otherwise known as “Howard” or “Yankee” of  Church Lane Norwood in St. James was driving along Church Lane when citizens heard loud explosions. When the police arrived, Samuel’s body was found with gunshot wounds on the passenger side of his vehicle which had seemingly crashed in a resident’s yard.

Two and a half hours later and approximately 3 miles away from Church Lane police who were patrolling Gordon Crescent Granville heard several explosions but after doing their checks found nothing. It wasn’t until the following morning that 19-year-old Shemar Taylor of the community was found dead with several gunshot wounds to his upper body. His mother, who had been a survivor of fire is now grieving the loss of her child.

45 minutes after the Granville incident police responded to another call from a resident of Lapland Catadupa in St. James, where the resident said they heard several explosions at his neighbours house. When the police arrived 26 year old Jonathan Miller was found in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds.

The police said there are no relations to the killings.
