The TODSS President says after eight years of waiting the 15 percent is not feasible given the significant jump in the cost of living over the same period. Additionally, Newman explained that round numbers work best in the sector as finding coins as change is usually challenging. He notes that some fares are currently $120 and come August 16 fares can go up to as much as $140.
Some passengers also believe that though times are hard taxi operators are deserving of a better rate.
