Justices of the Peace underwent a three day training session at Hilton Hotel in Montego Bay, with an aim to enhance their skills for the greater good of their communities and the country at large.
The training sessions was held under the theme, “Learning through shared experience: A model approach to empowering Lay Magistrates as Adjudicators.”
Justice Minister Delroy Chuck urged the members present to make use of the training sessions as they will be expected to train other Justices of the Peace.
He advices that the Government will be pushing the act of restorative justice and mediation within communities in order to reduce the backlog of court cases.
The training session was hosted by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with the Department of Justice of Canada and the National Integrity Action supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
