Transport Minister Robert Montague and Members of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation toured the Linstead Transport Centre on Thursday, July 15 as congestion poses a challenge in most municipalities across the island.
Their visit was part of efforts to bolster free traffic flows in Linstead, while reinforce the purpose of the transport encouraging its use.
The Transport Minister says this process will be in the form of an app.
Linstead accounts for some 2,000 licensed public transport vehicles of which 25 t0 30 percent are unlicensed.
Mayor of Spanish Town Norman Scott says it’s a waste for the facility to not be in use.
A sensitization drive will also be implemented for commuters in Linstead to ensure they too will utilize the center.
