With growing concern and outrage over reported cases of twelve dead babies at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says there are inaccuracies in the media about the bacterial infection that caused the deaths of infants in other hospitals.
The Minister while offering condolences to mothers who lost their babies says the incident at Victoria Jubilee Hospital is linked to the shortage of healthcare workers. He notes the severe bacterial outbreak at Victoria Jubilee Hospital has resulted in the deaths of a dozen neonates – which began this summer. However, Minister Tufton reaffirmed that Victoria Jubilee Hospital is the primary maternity hospital in the Caribbean for giving birth and that mothers and their newborns can feel safe at the institution.
