Two Dead Six Injured Following Incident in Hayes Clarendon

Two people are dead and 6 sustained injuries following an incident in the parish Saturday, June 12. The circumstances around the fatal incident remain shrouded in uncertainty, as residents tell a different story from the police.

This is the moment police officers assigned to the Lionel Town police area approached the site of a car crash on Saturday night. They reportedly signaled the car to stop some minutes before, the driver however disobeyed and instead sped off.

Reports are that the police signalled the driver to stop in the vicinity of the Raymond Clinic, when he didn’t, they gave chase.

The vehicle reportedly managed to elude the police, but then it subsequently crashed in a light post in Lionel Town, metres away from the hospital.

As the police approached the crash site, they instructed the passengers to show their hands.

CVM Live understands that only one of the passengers was conscious after the crash. The victims were later rushed to the nearby Lionel Town Hospital. Where crowds waited anxiously to get news of their condition.  

Some of the victims were rushed to they may pen hospital. News then emerged that 21-year-old Kavaughn Salmon and 17-year-old Jamoy Blair, both cousins from top hill in Hayes, succumbed to their injuries.

Kavaughn is believed to have been the one behind the wheels. CVM Live understands that the group was reportedly leaving the grave digging of the victims’ grandfather in Hayes. The uncle of the both Kavaughn and Jamoy was at the hospital he says, he was still digging the grave when he got the news of the accident.

The mother passed out moments later, we can confirm however that her son is not dead.

Parents of two of the teens tell us that their children say they don’t remember much of what happened. However, a parent of another boy who is believed to be the only one who was conscious subsequent to the crash. The boy told his parent that they realized that they were being stopped by the police, but the driver refused to stop. 

A highly placed source at the May Pen Hospital confirmed than none of the 3 victims that were transferred from the Lionel Town Hospital to May Pen suffered any gunshot wounds as was rumoured.

The source also tells us that one has since been transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital, another is awaiting transfer also to kph while the third victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
