Two Murders in Clarendon, Investigation Is Ongoing

A jerk vendor left his shop to go home but never made it. Instead, he was later discovered with multiple stab wounds and his throat slashed. Another incident has been linked to a reprisal where the victim was allegedly slain by a relative, who is a possible member of the Camtam Gang.

At about 9:20 Sunday morning Nieron Chambers otherwise called Sassa, a 33-year-old fisherman was shot and killed by gunmen at Cay, Rocky Point in Clarendon.

Reports are that Chambers was along the beach in the community when men traveling in a white Toyota Probox Motorcar approached him and opened gunfire in his direction. He tried to escape but was chased and shot multiple times. The attackers escaped in the vehicle.

The police were summoned and, on their arrival, Chambers was later found with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to the Lionel Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It’s alleged the murder was an immediate reprisal for the killing of 39-year-old Ralph Ebanks also called Everald at Frazerfield in Rocky Point. It is also alleged Chambers’ death was carried out by a relative who’s allegedly affiliated with a gang in the area known as the Camtam Gang. The gang is allegedly responsible for a number of murders in the parish.

Hours later at approximately 1:30 Sunday afternoon, at Candem racecourse also in Clarendon, the body of a man was discovered with his throat slashed. He’s since been identified as Carlton Samuels otherwise called Kenny, the jerk vendor.

Reports are that residents stumbled upon Samuels’ body in a dirt track and summoned the police who on their arrival saw the body with what appears to be stab wounds and his throat slashed. The body was taken to the Lionel Town Hospital. Police reports state that Samuels left his jerk shop for home last Friday but never made it home to his family. Relatives then grew suspicious. Residents are of the view that he may have been robbed and killed.

Investigations are ongoing.
