Vaz: Road Carnage A “National Emergency”

With road fatalities in Jamaica at a critical point, the Transport Minister has declared it a national emergency. The issue of more funding is coming to the forefront. Based on the frequency of these crashes and the escalating calls for immediate action, the Minister plans to draw from resources where motorists spend big.

Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says though there is a slight decline compared to the same period last year, this reality is “totally unacceptable”. His efforts to significantly curb the devastating trend include advocating for a portion of the revenue earned from fines, to be spent on public education.
